Established in 2018, Perth Pet Vet has been a cornerstone of veterinary care in Jandakot, Western Australia. Our journey began with a mission to provide exceptional veterinary services to pets and their families in Jandakot and surrounding suburbs.
Over the years, we have grown into a full-service animal clinic, offering comprehensive care tailored to the needs of each pet. Our commitment to excellence, compassion, and innovation has earned us the trust of our community.

Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (BVMS)
Membership of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS)
Growing up in Far North Queensland, I always had a passion for helping orphaned and injured animals and wildlife. Ours was the house that was “always home to a furred or feathered friend in need”. In 1999, I completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at James Cook University in Townsville, before moving to Perth in 2000 to achieve my dream of becoming a Veterinary Surgeon.
In 2003 I graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Biology and Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. I spent a number of years working in veterinary practices in NSW and WA. In 2017 I established Perth Pet Vet Mobile Service.
My love of birds led me to undertake further study, and in 2012, I successfully completed my exams and was granted membership to the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists in Avian Health. I am one of the few veterinarians with this membership in Western Australia.
In January 2019 I opened Perth Pet Vet, a purpose-built Veterinary Hospital where I work alongside a team who are equally passionate about providing exceptional veterinary care to all patients.
Outside of work, I enjoy camping adventures with my incredibly supportive husband and our four children, as well as spending time with our flock of furred and feather companions.

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
I am passionate about small animal medicine, especially dental care, wildlife, and exotics, while providing the best welfare possible to all my patients.
I came to Perth in 2016 to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian and graduated from Murdoch University in 2022. I believe in fear-free veterinary services and strive to make my patients’ experiences at the vet as positive as possible. I have a soft spot for cats and love coming home to my two cats, Daphne the domestic shorthair and Beans the Bengal.
Outside of work, I enjoy diving, camping, or just spending quality time with my cats at home. I look forward to meeting your beloved fur, feather, or scale babies!

Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (BVMS)
I graduated from Murdoch Vet School in 1999. My first job was supposed to be a 1-year small animal vet stint in Kalgoorlie. but ended up as a 7-year stint where I became a horse vet too!
I moved back to Perth in 2007 & have worked in small animal clinics since.
I love small animal surgery & have a soft spot for working dogs (my 6 year old kelpie keeps me busy!).
Outside of work, I spend time with my family at our property in Bindoon. I love camping & reading.

Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery (BVMS)
I graduated in 2004 as a neuroscientist from University College Cork, but it didn’t take long for me to realise how much I missed animals and nature—having grown up as a vet’s daughter on a farm in rural Ireland, it was a huge part of who I was.
To get back to what I truly loved, I decided to change careers and was accepted into the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. While waiting for the academic year to begin, I completed a Master’s degree in Marine Biology through University College Cork.
In 2014, I graduated with Distinction from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, then returned home to Ireland where I worked as a mixed animal vet, treating creatures both big and small.
Over time, I found myself gravitating more toward the smaller patients and eventually transitioned to a busy companion animal clinic. It was there that my caseload started to include more exotic and wildlife patients. Alongside cats and dogs, I became the consulting vet for a small zoo collection and was lucky enough to rehabilitate several stranded Loggerhead Sea Turtles over the years.
In February 2020, my husband and I made the bold move across the world to Perth. I initially worked in a busy companion animal clinic before moving to an exotics practice. While I enjoyed the unique cases, I missed the variety and challenge of a more mixed caseload—so I joined the team at Perth Pet Vet, where I now get to enjoy seeing all our gorgeous patients: furry, scaled, and feathered.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc)
I graduated from Murdoch University in 2022 and have been lucky enough to work with a mix of pocket pets, cats, dogs, and wildlife. I have a keen interest in both small animal medicine and surgery, with a particular passion for pocket pets. When I am not at work, I enjoy reading a good book and spending time with my three rescue cats, Gaston, Amicia, and Wren. I look forward to being part of the team and providing care for your fluffy, feathered, and scaly friends.

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
I started at Perth Pet Vet in 2021 and I absolutely love it here! Our patients are so varied in species, size, and temperament, which brings something new to every day. It also helps that the team is super lovely, experienced, and generally fun to work with.
I have completed several animal-specific courses with Applied Vocational Training and the Taronga Training Institute, with practical training across veterinary clinics, the RSPCA, and The Perth Zoo.
In my spare time, I have volunteered with Caversham Wildlife Park and Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre to help broaden my species knowledge.
I am an animal lover through and through, with no species left out. I am dedicated to providing exceptional care to all our patients at Perth Pet Vet.

Bachelor of Biological Sciences (Honours) & Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
As with almost all veterinary nurses and veterinarians you meet, I have always had a love of animals, so working with them came as a natural step after completing a Biology Degree with honours from Murdoch University in 1998.
I did a brief stint working at an outdoor piggery in Mt Barker (and believe me, a Mummy Pig can run really fast!) before beginning my veterinary nurse training at Bentley TAFE in 2001.
I am blessed to have two beautiful girls with my awesome husband and one very patient (toddler alert!) blue heeler x stumpy-tailed cattle dog named Clancy.
Throughout my career, I have been lucky enough to work with some fantastic people and have been taught so much. However, one never stops learning, and I look forward to continuing this journey with Dr. Toni Cockburn and the wonderful staff at Perth Pet Vet.

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
Originally from Scotland, I grew up with a variety family of pets, from lizards and snakes to ferrets and newts, cats and hamsters.
Animals have always been a passion of mine so when I moved to Australia it was a natural move to begin volunteering with wildlife rescues. I progressed in my role to working in the rescue hospital and taking home orphaned babies to raise. This is where my obsession with birds was born. I decided to study vet nursing to enhance
my ability in caring for animals so and that I could be paid to do what I loved.
It’s an absolute dream to work at Perth Pet Vet with such a great team where we see such a huge variety of animals, specifically birds!

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
I graduated from Applied Vocational Training (AVT) in 2021. After spending the first two years working in a rabbit/guinea pig clinic I am now enjoying the variety of animals that we see at Perth Pet Vet. They say variety is the spice of life.
I am the proud owner of Cottontail Lodge where my family and I have provided holiday care for rabbits and guinea pigs since 2018. I also volunteer at WA Wildlife in Bibra Lake.
I share my home with my partner Roger, our two adult daughters Liv and Jess along with a bunny called Charlie, Jojo the guinea pig and a hormonal lovebird called Honey.
Outside of work I love dining out, a glass (or two) of red and listening to audible books.

Picture and biography to come.

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing
After several years in working in hospitality, I felt it was time to explore new career paths. Growing up surrounded by animals, I always felt a deep connection to them. My partner and I have two fur babies, Phoenix, our Golden Retriever, and Lillie our cat. I decided I wanted to provide the care and compassion that animals need when they’re away from their homes and loved ones, and that set me on my path to becoming a veterinary nurse.
I began my journey by studying a Certificate III in Animal Care with AVT and secured a work placement at a Doggy Day Care. As I gained experience, I sought new opportunities to develop my skills further and began working as an animal attendant at Perth Pet Vet. I thrilled when I was offered a Veterinary Nurse Traineeship just six months later.
Since then, I’ve immersed myself in this rewarding field, learning invaluable skills and giving more cuddles and kisses than I’d ever be able to count to our patients. I feel incredibly privileged to work alongside such a dedicated team, caring for the animals entrusted to us. Every day reinforces my commitment to providing them with the love and support they need and deserve during their most vulnerable times.

Cert III in Animal Care Studies
I’ve always had a home filled with all kinds of critters, feathered, furred and scaled. I can’t imagine one without. I have recently completed my certificate 3 in animal care studies and am now studying for my certificate 4 in veterinary nursing. I have always known this is what I want to do.
I have a strong passion for birds (and a soft spot for greyhounds) I also have a passion for our beautiful Australian Wildlife. I volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation shelter and the reward of seeing the critters happy and healthy is better than any other.
Here at the hospital I continue to grow and learn from our amazing PPV team!

Hi, I am Matt, I am not a vet, nor a vet nurse, I am Dr Toni’s husband and throughout our 20-year marriage have helped to raise puppies, kittens, goats, rats, joeys, emu’s, and all kinds of sized birds. I’m not fond of snakes, but Dr Toni has helped me go from phobic to holding them. I love being around the animals, our home is like Jumanji. We also have 4 children, who are all active, busy animal lovers.
Hailing from the Northwest of England, I came to Perth after a few years of travel and have never left. Along the way I worked on farms in many different countries. I trained in the UK as a Registered Nurse for people who have Intellectual Disabilities, working in a range of settings from Schools to employment support, supported living. I have also trained as a diesel mechanic and worked in the mining industry. In both careers I have been involved in safety, and welfare, and trained as a trainer. It’s been a wild and fun ride.
Now I work alongside Dr Toni at Perth Pet Vet. I wear many hats and ensure that our amazing team have what they need, and I am passionate about building an all-inclusive, positive, motivated team with a healthy culture, so that we can enjoy what we do and best perform for our clients.
